What the petition asks
We want the Government to commit a gradual transition towards fully digital system for all government service & payments & to significantly reduce reliance on physical cash in economy. We believe a modern inclusive & secure digital system will benefit citizens, businesses & the UK economy as a whole.
The UK is a highly digital society, yet many public services and transactions still rely on physical cash and offline processes. This increases costs, slows services, and limits transparency.
Expanding fully digital and online payments would help reduce tax evasion and cash-related crime, improve accountability through clear transaction records, and make public services faster and more convenient for citizens and businesses.
Reducing reliance on cash would also save public money, support environmental goals, and encourage innovation in financial technology. Any transition should be gradual and inclusive, with support for those who face digital barriers.
