What the petition asks
Reduce vehicle/road /VED tax by at least 50% for cars registered up to 31 March 2017. In our view, the current costs are not realistic, unfair, and extortionate and further promotes the disposable, uneconomic car culture that results from serviceable vehicles being scrapped.
We think the current vehicle tax amounts are extremely illogical, unrealistic, and
extortionate.
As stated the current associated cost within this band further promote the ‘throw away’ culture, costing (otherwise perfectly serviceable) older vehicles off the road. Manufacture of new vehicles creates massive economic (resource and emissions) debt. Keeping an older vehicle well maintained and running is greener than manufacturing a new one. We would like the tax rates to be reassessed logically and fairly.
