What the petition asks
We demand the Government immediately halts all work on the Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre project and revokes the powers granted by the Holocaust Memorial Bill that override the 1900 Act protecting this public park. We want this scheme abandoned permanently. Protect our historic park.
This project destroys a historic public park that is part of the UNESCO Westminster World Heritage Site. 20% of its area, 40% of green space lost.
Taxpayer cost has ballooned from £50m to £146m. The Government's own watchdog gave it its worst red rating for 3 years.
Planning was quashed by the High Court—a Bill was forced through to override the law.
Heritage bodies oppose it.
There are already over 150 Holocaust memorials in the UK.
A bad project, wrong location, wasting public money.

Why it was rejected
It was about a matter for a local council or devolved government, not the UK Government or Parliament.
