Petition

Against the replacement of English historical figures on UK bank notes.

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

i request that we keep our historical ancestors on ur uk bank notes.
Instead of erasing these icons, we should celebrate and educate future generations about their legacy, ensuring that our history remains visible and valued on the currency that circulates through everyday life.
Replacing English historical figures on new UK banknotes is a misguided decision that risks erasing important parts of our national heritage and identity. These figures, such as Shakespeare, Churchill, and Darwin, embody the values, achievements, and cultural milestones that have shaped the nation. Removing them diminishes our historical narrative and disrespects the contributions of those who have significantly impacted society.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

Banknotes are the responsibility of the Bank of England, which is independent of the Government and Parliament.
