What the petition asks
We call on the Government to fund specialised trauma-informed communications training to support NHS staff to offer better treatment to patients with chronic pain conditions like Endometriosis, Adenomyosis, Fibromyalgia and PCOS.
We think this is needed to ensure patients feel treated with compassion.
Some patients with chronic pain conditions, including complex gynaecological conditions, report medical gaslighting and some experience that there is a lack of understanding of their conditions and the appropriate treatment for it. In our view, many patients are still managed with outdated logic that contradicts current ESHRE and NICE guidelines. We think specialised trauma-informed communications training could help ensure staff are:
- Eliminating minimizing/ dismissive language.
-Recognizing the severe mental health impact of conditions like PMDD.
