Petition

Add MenB vaccination to the school leavers’ MenACWY programme-

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Recent tragic deaths of 2 students, alongside a reported outbreak of MenB in the Canterbury area, highlight the continued and serious risk posed by this strain. Particularly as they enter environments such as sixth form colleges and universities where close contact increases transmission risk.
MenB can cause rapid and life-threatening meningitis and sepsis.

Symptoms escalate quickly, often becoming fatal within hours.

Teenagers and young adults are a high-risk group due to social mixing.

The MenB vaccine is already given to infants, showing it is recognised as an effective preventative measure.

Offer the MenB vaccine at the same time as the MenACWY jab for efficiency and increased uptake.

Review recent outbreaks, including in Canterbury, to assess the need for urgent rollout.
