What the petition asks
Introduce a scheme that gives £500 to adults working at least 35hrs per week to spend in independent businesses that sell goods not services, excluding tobacco, alcohol and fast food. Thus creating entry-level jobs, boosting local spending, strengthening high streets, keeping money in circulation.
People are working full time yet still struggling to pay bills, trapped in low-paid or unstable jobs, or avoiding fulltime work because it doesn’t pay. The economy and the high street is dying, its easy to buy cheap, low-quality or imported produce from big corps. £500 into workers pockets to spend in UK independent shops where 60% of goods are produced in the UK would boost jobs, support SME's which are the backbone of the economy, improve diet & lifestyle, & encourage businesses to reshore.
