Increase the tax free overnight allowance for HGV and PCV drivers to £50

What the petition asks
We ask the government to increase the overnight allowance for nights away from home creature comforts. This allowance has not increased since 2014 and even if it matched inflation would now be £45.
We want this raised to £50 in recognition of how HGV drivers kept the country running during covid etc.
We believe this increase in the overnight allowance could enable commercial drivers to maintain a bare minimum standard of living during this cost of living crisis and show a minimum amount of respect for us drivers during everything we do to keep the country running daily. Without HGV drivers everything stops, yet we have never been given the recognition or reward like clap the NHS. Without us there wouldn't have been any hospital supplies, PPE, or equipment
