Petition

Temporarily cut VAT on fuel to ease shortages and high prices

Rejected 19 signatures

What the petition asks

I want the Government to temporarily reduce VAT on petrol and diesel during fuel shortages. Much of the pump price is tax, including fuel duty and VAT on the full price. This raises costs for consumers and businesses. A VAT cut would lower prices and reduce economic impact until supply stabilises.
Fuel is essential for work, transport and daily life. High prices increase costs for households and businesses, especially during shortages. A large part of the pump price is tax, including VAT charged on the full amount. Reducing VAT would provide immediate relief, help limit rising costs across goods and services, and support economic stability until supply improves.
