Petition

Bring back red diesel for construction and civil engineering

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Allow construction and civil engineering firms to use rebated red diesel again, with the same reduced duty treatment available to agriculture. This should cover off road plant, machinery and generators used on active sites to cut costs and support infrastructure delivery.
Most construction firms lost access to rebated red diesel in April 2022, while agriculture remained eligible. At a time of cost of living pressure and rising fuel prices linked to recent conflict in the Middle East, this is increasing site costs, pushing up project prices and putting more pressure on SMEs, jobs and infrastructure delivery.
