Petition
Make disruption caused by staff absence a JCQ reason for special consideration
Rejected
10 signatures
What the petition asks
To make all qualifications regulated by the JCQ "JQC-Regulated Qualifications" to include disruption caused by significant staff absence a reason for special consideration in marking 'compassionate marking' where it has not been possible to make substantial mitigating efforts to reduce impact.
Right now, students impacted by long term sickness of staff may not get the right support to achieve 'best day' performance in their exams. Some may not get substitute/supply teacher support and may have to self teach. To make grading fair and equitable, students impacted by this type of disruption should be eligible for compassionate marking adjustments on a case-by-case basis to ensure integrity and fairness.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
