Petition

Create designated wheelchair only parking bays alongside existing disabled bays

Rejected 10 signatures

What the petition asks

Create more parking bays specifically for wheelchair users who require additional space to safely enter and exit their vehicles. These spaces could be located slightly further from building entrances where appropriate.
Introducing clearly designated wheelchair-accessible parking bays would help ensure wheelchair users can park safely and independently, improving accessibility, reducing risk, and supporting equal access to public spaces.

While the Blue Badge scheme supports a wide range of disabilities, not all badge holders require the extra space for wheelchair access. Providing a proportion of bays for wheelchair users would better meet differing needs, while maintaining provision for other disabled people.
