Limit rent increases to once per year per property, regardless of tenant changes

What the petition asks
We want the UK Government to introduce legislation limiting rent increases to once per year per property, regardless of how many tenancies apply to the property within that period.
Recent rental reforms aim to improve tenant protections, but may create unintended consequences. Landlords can advertise rent at a higher rate each time a tenant moves out; if there is increased tenant turnover this could lead to multiple increases on a property within a year between tenancies. In high-demand areas like London, this risks worsening affordability and housing instability. We propose limiting rent increases to once per year per property to ensure fairness, stability, and prevent abuse.
