Raise higher rate tax threshold to £60k, and raise yearly in line with inflation

What the petition asks
This petition asks the Government to increase the higher rate income tax threshold from £50,270 to £60,000 now and going forwards introduce automatic annual increases to the threshold in line with inflation.
Frozen thresholds are pushing many workers, such as some NHS staff in London, into the 40% tax band. High Cost Area supplements increase taxable pay but often may only cover travel and living costs, not real income. As a result, pay rises don’t necessarily improve take-home pay.
