What the petition asks
Support the UK to join other developed nations and expand its role in international space exploration, science, and utilisation, thus properly supporting growth, security, and highly-skilled jobs. The UK is a major economy, but has fallen behind comparable countries in government space investment.
We believe space investment brings strong economic returns, supports innovation & skills, strengthens national capability, & helps the UK secure industrial, scientific, & inspirational benefits. The UK Space Agency says every £1 invested in space generates over £7 for the UK economy. We feel increased space investment would make the UK’s 2022 National Space Strategy & 2024 Space Industrial Plan viable & achievable. A 2025 House of Lords report warns the UK must act now to lead in the growing space economy.
