Ensure Equal Access to NHS Fertility Treatment for Same-Sex Couples

What the petition asks
Establish national NHS standards to ensure same-sex couples can access funded fertility treatment without the burden of self-funded IUI cycles. We call for an end to the postcode lottery, a review of eligibility for those with existing children, and expanded access to options like reciprocal IVF.
Same-sex couples may need 6–12 self-funded IUI cycles before NHS eligibility, costing £10k–£25k and creating an unfair financial barrier. Access to treatment varies by postcode, some are excluded for already having children, and options such as reciprocal IVF are often limited. Fertility care should be fair, consistent, and reflect modern families. It is unfair that same-sex couples face this immense stress and financial worry while opposite-sex couples do not.
