Formally recognise the killing of Armenians in 1915-1923 as genocide

Open for signatures 30 signatures

What the petition asks

We want the Government to align itself with those international communities which recognise the Armenian Genocide of 1915-1923 by: Officially recognising the genocide, declaring April 24th ‘Armenian genocide Memorial Day’ and bringing it into the education curriculum.
We believe the issue of labelling genocide has never been more important than today. The Government's current stance is it is up to institutions to determine whether genocide has occurred. We feel this leaves us open to losing our voice as a nation to call out injustices. Furthermore, the implications of a Memorial Day and teaching of the genocide are massive for our history and victims alike. Recognition serves not only to teach, but to honour and remember.
