What the petition asks

The lords recently filibustered, in order to run out of time to avoid a vote on a bill some peers did not like. This is not the first time they have used this tactic. It is anti-democratic. The Commons should have the final say, not the unelected Lords.

Stop the Lords using these anti-democratic delaying tactics. There are various ways this could happen. Requiring them to vote is the simplest. Other possibilities include limiting the number of amendments they can propose. Of the 1,200 amendments they proposed to the recent bill, they discussed just 50. That took nearly a year.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

We cannot accept petitions about the House of Lords.
