Review Children’s Social Care Repeated Placement Moves to Prevent Harm

What the petition asks
Review children’s social care repeated placement moves, with an aim to ensure proper support is in place for children, improve safeguarding of foster placements, and introduce stronger accountability when systems fail. We urge action now to review the system and protect vulnerable children.
The review should consider limits on repeated placement moves, with mandatory independent review after multiple disruptions and guaranteed access to trauma-informed mental health support for all children. We call for stronger safeguarding of foster placements, including substance misuse screening and drug testing and better support to prevent family isolation, ensuring families are included and supported where appropriate.
The review should also consider support for women in the justice system to help reduce separation of mothers from children.
