Amend Health and Safety at Work Act to include the provision of defibrillators

Open for signatures 199 signatures

What the petition asks

This petition calls on the UK Government to review and update the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to explicitly include the provision and consideration of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) within workplace and public health and safety requirements.
When this legislation was originally enacted, defibrillators were not widely available within communities, nor were they considered a standard component of emergency response. Advances in medical technology and increased public access to AEDs have since demonstrated their critical role in saving lives during sudden cardiac arrest, where immediate intervention can significantly improve survival rates.

Despite this progress, there remains no clear statutory requirement or guidance within the Act.
