Change how employees on mat leave are compensated for redundancy consultation

What the petition asks
Build on reforms:
-Require redundancy consultation during mat leave be treated as paid engagement (via KIT days/equivalent, with a paid process beyond 10 days)
-Ensure employees aren’t disadvantaged in redundancy processes due to mat leave
-Require redundancy consultation during mat leave be treated as paid engagement (via KIT days/equivalent, with a paid process beyond 10 days)
-Ensure employees aren’t disadvantaged in redundancy processes due to mat leave
Women on maternity leave and at risk of redundancy are still expected to take part in consultations with no clear requirement for that time to be paid. At best 10 KIT days and then working for free, while using precious time.
The Protection from Redundancy (Pregnancy and Family Leave) Act 2023 strengthened protections, but not the reality of engaging in the process during leave.
No clear pay, no limits, no structure.
Maternity leave shouldn’t mean being disadvantaged at your most vulnerable.
