What the petition asks
Reduce suffering by providing targeted funding for the use of private facilities and surgeons to reduce the surgery wait list time for those with chronic gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis and PCOS.
Around 1 in 10 women have endometriosis. Average diagnosis is 7-8 years that’s before treatment to relieve symptoms. There is no cure only management. It can affect fertility. It’s an invasive condition that returns. It can affect multiple organs including the bladder, bowel and even the lungs. Surgery waitlists are between 12-24 months once you get on them which takes years in itself. The pain doesn’t wait, this fast spreading condition just pushes on.
