What the petition asks
We call on the Government to launch an independent inquiry into the family court system regarding their handling of domestic abuse allegations.
We are asking for the inquiry to include:
Investigating decisions made in domestic abuse-related family court cases to identify failures in protecting victims and children.
Mandatory evidence-based trauma training for all judges and professionals whose assessments influence court outcomes.
A full review of the welfare checklist to prioritise child and adult safety over the presumption of contact with an abusive parent.
