Mandatory Custodial Sentence for Sexual Violence with a Weapon at any Age

What the petition asks
Introduce a statutory minimum custodial sentence for any sexual offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 where the offender used, threatened, or carried a weapon. Remove age as a bar to custody in these cases.
Sexual violence is recognised by the UK Government as a weapon of war and one of the most serious violations of human rights. We believe the use of a weapon in a sexual offence demonstrates premeditation, extreme threat to life, and lasting trauma for victims.
Yet sentencing guidelines allow significant judicial discretion, and age can be used as a mitigating factor even in cases involving weapons so the offender avoids prison. We believe this undermines public confidence and fails survivors.
