Petition
Oppose the use of the death penalty for Palestinians in Israeli military courts
Rejected
9 signatures
What the petition asks
Publicly oppose enforcement of the legislation permitting the death penalty for Palestinian detainees tried in Israeli military courts and press for compliance with international humanitarian law.
Human rights organisations and UN bodies have repeatedly raised concerns about due process in Israeli military courts used for Palestinians in the occupied territories, including allegations of coercive interrogation, limited legal representation, and very high conviction rates. Using capital punishment in such a system risks irreversible injustice.
The UK Government should oppose the use of the death penalty and support equal standards of justice.
