What the petition asks

‘The term "Foid" is used typically by very misogynistic men, and such language should be legally punishable.’ The rhetoric is often used by ‘incels’ who use this language online and in person. This would further help education and police powers in helping to stop this rhetoric from causing harm.

This issue takes lives, and it’s extremely serious and personal. It would be a massive disservice to the British people not to look into the way of police handling especially online. Following on from films like ‘adolescence’ this culture has more mainstream and understood. But tell me why young women are still dying. Something needs to be done and people much cleverer than me need to do it.

Why it was rejected

It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.

The Committee has decided not to accept petitions which call for specific words or phrases to be criminalised as it is the job of the courts to decide what words signify within the context in which they are used, and whether that constitutes an offence.
