What the petition asks

When SEMH students struggle to conform, the system treats it as a behavioral failure rather than an unmet need. We need safer spaces in schools, better access to mental health support, more trained staff, and to ensure that behaviour policies recognise the impact of SEMH difficulties. Change is now.

Over 330,000 students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs are currently not in education due to lack of understanding. Standardized school discipline often punishes struggles instead of supporting them. This often leads to lower attendance, and reduced academic achievement. We demand better access to mental health support for children missing education, staff training, and to ensure behaviour policies recognise the impact of SEMH difficulties. Every child deserves a safe learning environment.
