Petition
Introduce Clearer Autism Classifications Based on Support Needs
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Introduce formal autism support levels in the UK. We call on the Government to review autism diagnosis and adopt a clearer classification system, recognising different levels of support needs, including profound autism. To help further support all levels of ASD.
ASD people can have different experiences and support needs. Many live independently while facing challenges with communication, education, employment or daily life. Many may be non verbal, engage in self-injurious behaviours, significant sensory difficulties, no danger awareness, requiring lifelong care. USA and Australia already recognise differing levels of support needs. We believe the UK should adopt a clearer classification system to improve understanding, support and resource allocation.
