Review sentencing guidance for harassment, stalking and threats of violence

What the petition asks
Review sentencing guidelines and punishments for harassment, stalking and threats of violence, include tougher penalties for repeat offenders and breaches of protection orders. Ensure sentencing reflects the impact on victims and provides stronger protections against abuse and intimidation.
Harassment, stalking, threats of violence can cause severe and lasting harm. Victims experience fear, anxiety, trauma and major disruption to daily life, sometimes changing homes, jobs or routines for safety. Many believe current penalties do not reflect the seriousness of these offences, particularly for repeat offenders. This petition calls on the Government to review sentencing, strengthen penalties, enforce breaches of protective orders and ensure courts fully recognise the harm caused.
