What the petition asks
Change divorce law so victims of domestic abuse can finalise a divorce without obstruction by a convicted abuser
I am calling on the UK Government to change divorce law to prevent convicted domestic abusers from using divorce proceedings to continue coercive control.
Victims can remain legally and financially tied to their abusers when proceedings are delayed or obstructed. I am asking the Government to introduce safeguards allowing victims to finalise a divorce without delay where the other party has been convicted of domestic abuse against them.
