Ensure planning rules prioritise brownfield land and infrastructure capacity

Communities across the UK are seeing large housing developments approved on agricultural land, despite pressure on local infrastructure such as healthcare and roads. Current planning rules give significant weight to housing supply, allowing this to override sustainability and land use considerations. We believe policy should prioritise brownfield land, ensure infrastructure is in place, and treat sustainability properly in both construction and land use.
