Petition
Introduce a Legal Minimum Fare Rate for Private Hire Drivers Across UK
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Private hire operators such as Uber, Bolt and FREENOW should be required to pay drivers a minimum of £2 per mile plus £0.50 per minute on every trip. Local licensing authorities, including TfL, should introduce and enforce regulations to guarantee fair minimum earnings for all private hire drivers.
Many private hire drivers face rising fuel, insurance, vehicle finance, maintenance and licensing costs, while fares paid by operators often fail to keep pace. A minimum rate of £2 per mile plus £0.50 per minute would help ensure drivers receive fair compensation for their time and expenses. We call on licensing authorities, including TfL, to introduce and enforce minimum fare standards that protect drivers’ earnings and support a sustainable private hire industry.
