What the petition asks
Fund and offer all girls in state and independent secondary schools in England: a pelvic ultrasound at start and end of secondary school (age 11–12 and 15–16), screening for endometriosis, PCOS (PMOS) and uterine fibroids, plus a confidential gynaecological specialist consultation.
Endometriosis, PCOS (PMOS), and fibroids affect millions of UK women. Endometriosis takes on average 9 years to diagnose and 39% of women visited their GP 10+ times before being taken seriously. There is peer-reviewed research that suggests endometriosis exhibits all 8 hallmarks of cancer, yet receives none of its screening urgency. A study suggests that women with endometriosis are 4x more likely to develop ovarian cancer. Undetected, these conditions can cause infertility, organ damage, and cost the UK £8.2 billion annually. Early detection starts at puberty.
