Require all Government Ministers to be Elected Members of Parliament
Open for signatures

What the petition asks
We call on the UK Government to change the law so that only people elected in a general election or by-election to the House of Commons may serve as government ministers. No person should be able to become a minister solely through appointment to the House of Lords.
Ministers should be directly accountable to voters through election.
Government ministers exercise significant executive power and make decisions affecting the public. Those who hold ministerial office should therefore have a direct democratic mandate from the electorate rather than serving by virtue of appointment to the House of Lords
