Petition
Introduce a 90% Congestion Charge Discount for Licensed Private Hire Drivers
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
We want the Government to introduce a 90% Congestion Charge discount or exemption for all licensed private hire drivers in UK, recognising that they provide an essential transport service and enter the zone primarily for work rather than personal travel.
Licensed private hire drivers provide an essential transport service for millions of passengers across London, including commuters, tourists, elderly people and those travelling when public transport is limited. Drivers enter the Congestion Charge Zone as part of their work and face significant operating costs. A 90% discount or exemption would help support self-employed drivers, keep fares affordable and recognise their contribution to London’s transport network.
Why it was rejected
It asked for something that is not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament.
We can only accept petitions about things the Government or Parliament are directly responsible for.
Decisions about introducing a congestion charge discount is a matter for the Mayor of London, not the UK Government or Parliament.
