Petition
Exclude rapists and child sex offenders from early release schemes
Rejected
13 signatures
What the petition asks
We want the UK Government to permanently exclude anyone convicted of rape, child rape, child sexual abuse or child sexual exploitation from any current or future early release or sentence reduction scheme.
Victims of rape and child sexual abuse live with the consequences of these crimes for life. Any further reduction in the time served by those convicted of these offences risks undermining public confidence in the justice system and causing further distress to victims and families. The Government should ensure anyone convicted of rape, child rape, child sexual abuse or child sexual exploitation is permanently excluded from any current or future early release or sentence reduction scheme.
Why it was rejected
The UK Government or Parliament was already taking the action it asked for.
The Government has already excluded prisoners guilty of rape and child sex offences from being eligible for the early prisoner release scheme.
