What the petition asks
A maximum of a three year parliamentary term would allow voters to replace Governments more frequently. We ask the Government to introduce legislation reducing the maximum term limit for a Parliament to three years.
We believe this would ensure greater accountability for Governments in power and prevent economic instability. It would also enable stronger democracy as the global economy system is dynamic and consistently needs adaptability and resilience. We feel this change would lead to better performance for leaders and Governments in power and enable a stable government and leadership, further promoting inclusive democracy and scrutiny. It would also prevent our leaders staying too long in power when they are underperforming.
