Review and strengthen heatwave guidance for schools in England

Many schools in England were not designed for prolonged periods of extreme heat and lack air conditioning. During heatwaves, classroom temperatures can become unsafe for pupils and staff, affecting health, wellbeing, concentration and learning. We want the Government to introduce clear national temperature thresholds and guidance, including when schools should consider remote learning or temporary closure if classrooms become excessively hot.
