Petition
Unelected Prime Ministers to call a General Election within 1 calendar month.
Rejected

What the petition asks
Change the law so when a Prime Minister resigns or is removed, a general election must be called within 1 month, to secure a democratic mandate. Exceptions: death, ill-health, or national emergency - then the Deputy PM serves until the next scheduled election. People want properly elected leaders.
Over the past decade, the UK will have had seven different Prime Ministers. This level of turnover makes it harder to sustain long-term planning and delivery, while taxpayers continue to fund generous pensions, severance arrangements and other ongoing costs, despite often weak performance. Parliamentarians of all parties are continually gaming the system for their own benefit, rather than that of the country.
