Petition
Protect children from unsafe classroom heat
Rejected
21 signatures
What the petition asks
Require schools and nurseries to close during extreme heat and introduce a legal maximum indoor temperature for classrooms and workplaces.
Many UK schools and nurseries lack air conditioning and become dangerously hot during heatwaves. As a teacher, I have witnessed the impact on children and staff, especially in early years where young children are more vulnerable to heat. The Government should require schools to close or make alternative arrangements when temperatures reach 27°C, and introduce a legal maximum indoor working temperature for schools.
