Petition

Review the decision to use former RAF Barnham site for asylum accommodation

Rejected 21 signatures

What the petition asks

Reconsider the use of RAF Barnham for large-scale asylum accommodation until a full independent assessment of impacts on local services, infrastructure, community safety and nearby military facilities has been completed.
We call on the Government to reconsider its decision to use the former RAF Barnham site for large-scale asylum accommodation. The proposal could place additional pressure on local GP surgeries, NHS services, roads, policing and community facilities. Residents have not been properly consulted on a change of this scale. Concerns also remain regarding community impact, safeguarding and the site’s proximity to UK and US military facilities. Alternative locations should be considered.

Why it was rejected

It was about a matter for a local council or devolved government, not the UK Government or Parliament.

This concerns a local matter. A more generalised petition on the merits of the use of RAF bases nationally to house asylum seekers would be an acceptable subject for an e-petition.
