What the petition asks
Introduce yoga and inclusive spiritual education in schools to improve physical and mental wellbeing, teach respect, compassion and self-discipline, and help students learn the shared values of different faiths and beliefs while respecting freedom of religion and choice.
Children face growing mental health challenges, stress and social division. Introducing yoga and inclusive spiritual education in schools could improve wellbeing, self-discipline, respect and kindness. Lessons could explore the shared ethical values of major faiths and beliefs without promoting any religion.
Alongside academic learning, schools play an important role in building character, respect, responsibility and community spirit. Promoting yoga and comparative spiritual education may help encourage healthier lifestyles, mutual understanding and positive behaviour among young people, contributing to stronger and safer communities
