Petition
Allow regulated pepper spray for personal self-defence in the UK
Rejected

What the petition asks
I would ask change the law to allow adults carry approved pepper spray for personal self-defence.
Current law leaves many people without an effective means of protecting themselves from violent attacks, particularly women from affected by the fear of sexual violence and assaults.
Current law leaves many people without an effective means of protecting themselves from violent attacks, particularly women from affected by the fear of sexual violence and assaults.
Many people, particularly women, disproportionately affected by the fear of sexual violence and attacks in public spaces especially when travelling alone at night.
Recent increases in violent attacks, hate crimes and assaults against people targeted because of their sex, religion, ethnicity or perceived identity have heightened concerns about personal safety. Many law-abiding people feel they lack an effective means of protecting themselves in an emergency.
