Classify bamboo as a controlled waste in the UK

What the petition asks
Bamboo spreads rapidly & causes damage to pavements, buildings & anything that stands in its way. We believe bamboo is more dangerous than Japanese knotweed but doesn't carry the same legal implications when buying property & dealing with neighbour disputes as it isn't classified as controlled waste
Currently, there is no law against planting bamboo, despite the absolute chaos we feel it can cause within neighbourhoods. We believe bamboo is more dangerous than Japanese knotweed in many ways, yet it doesn't hold the same legal implications, which means bamboo doesn't get flagged on housing surveys, despite it causing considerable damage to residential dwellings. We would like the classification of bamboo to fall into line with that of Japanese knotweed.
