Scientific & research assessments for all new laws & statutory guidance

What the petition asks
Require all new laws and statutory guidance to include a published Scientific and Research Impact Assessment (SRIA). The SRIA must use systematic reviews of independent data from multiple sources. A new independent scrutiny body must ensure that these are unbiassed and reflect the evidence.
We believe policies are currently open to legal technicalities, political ideologies, and cherry-picked data due to there being no statutory requirement to audit underlying research. A prime example TO US is the ongoing public confusion over equality and single sex spaces guidance, which relies on consultations rather than peer-reviewed data. Current frameworks also fail to stop payee bias. Mandating literature reviews and strict funding filters will, we believe, anchor law to reality and guarantee backing by uncorrupted evidence.
