Legislate to ensure second hand cars remain affordable for ordinary people.

What the petition asks

• Open OBD2 diagnostic and part coding.
• Mandate 10-year transferable warranties.
• Enforce service schedules that promote longevity.
• Ban proprietary fastenings.
• Standardise VED to a flat rate.
The soaring cost of used vehicles prices working people out of essential transit. Public transport is often non-existent, making a private car necessary for jobs and childcare. High dealer fees, software locks, and a corporate culture of planned failure artificially drive up prices. Protecting independent garages and guaranteeing parts availability will lower repair costs and keep cars affordable.
