Add corn (maize) to the UK's list of mandatory food allergens

Open for signatures 16 signatures

What the petition asks

Review the evidence on corn (maize) allergy and amend food allergen regulations to require corn and maize-derived ingredients to be clearly identified and highlighted on food labels and menus.
Corn allergy can cause severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Corn and maize-derived ingredients are widely used in processed foods and may appear under many different names, making them difficult to identify. People with corn allergy face unnecessary risks when buying food or eating out. Mandatory allergen labelling could improve safety, reduce accidental exposure and help consumers make informed choices.
