What the petition asks
We call on the Government to ban the sale of fireworks to the general public and restrict their use exclusively to licensed, professionally organized public displays.
The general public’s irresponsible use of fireworks continues to cause severe safety and environmental damage. This was tragically demonstrated by the recent devastating wildfire at Dovestone Reservoir, which was ignited by individuals letting off fireworks on tinder-dry moorland. The resulting blaze has smothered Manchester in smoke, destroyed local wildlife, and released harmful gases into the atmosphere. Furthermore the antisocial behaviour use causing noise disturbance at other times.
