What the petition asks
Hold an early census in England & Wales in 2027 to provide up-to-date demographic data, rather than waiting until 2031.
We believe the UK has experienced significant population change since the 2021 Census. Decisions about healthcare, education, housing, transport and other public services should be based on the most current information available.
An early census in 2027 could provide Parliament, local authorities and the public with an updated picture of our country’s population. This could improve planning, increase transparency and allow informed discussion about how the country is changing.
