What the petition asks
Commission and publish an independent feasibility study and business case for building standardised modular data centres on suitable public land.
It should identify all potential sites and compare ten-year public ownership costs with continued reliance on commercial cloud and hosting providers.

Public services need secure computing, storage & AI capacity. The Government should assess if public ownership could cut long-term costs, improve resilience, protect data and reduce reliance on technology companies. The business case should examine capital & operating costs, power & fibre availability, job creation, apprenticeship opportunities, cybersecurity, workloads, savings & income from leasing spare capacity. It should publish assumptions, shortlisted sites & recommendations.
